Saudi Arabia is known to have close diplomatic relations with Moscow and Kyiv. The Arab side has also been a mediator in conflicts involving Ukraine and Russia.

The mediation carried out by Saudi Arabia also produced results. In September 2022 there was an agreement between Russia and Ukraine in which 200 captured Ukrainian citizens were released.

“We will also discuss promising areas of economic cooperation and Saudi Arabia’s involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Zelensky added.

Zelensky said that during his visit to Saudi Arabia he would also discuss the peace formula offered by Ukraine. In that discourse Zelensky called for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.
